Dear Trinitians,

After a long summer break, I warmly welcome all students back to campus!

During the summer vacation, both teachers and students might have traveled to various places. I wonder how your experiences were? Did you discover anything meaningful? This summer, I participated in a retreat, and what left the deepest impression on me was a presentation prepared by Sister Selina. The slides were filled with her photographs—some captured small flowers by the roadside, others showcased a rainbow in the sky, and some highlighted the beautiful landscapes of Hong Kong taken during hikes. The background music was a song by Eason Chan, titled “Only One Thing Today”. The lyrics remind us to slow down and dedicate an entire day to focus on just one task.

Sister Selina pointed out that we often forget to enjoy life and appreciate the beauty around us. There are countless beautiful things in life waiting for us to discover. Her words resonated with me, reminding me of how, during my travels, I often rush to snap photos at famous landmarks, only to hurry off to the next spot without truly appreciating the scenery along the way. Is the essence of travel simply about checking off places on a list? I have become so accustomed to the fast pace of life in Hong Kong that I rarely take the time to savour remarkable moments in life.

This retreat reminded me of the famous quote by the artist Rodin: “Beauty is everywhere. It is not that she is lacking to our eye, but our eyes which fail to perceive her.” Happiness is not something we passively wait for; instead, we must actively seek out the beauty in life and express gratitude for all the people and experiences around us. Only then can we truly find happiness.

As our school prepares to celebrate its 60th anniversary, we take a moment to reflect on the rich tapestry of achievements woven together through the dedication and hard work of countless individuals. Over the past six decades, Sisters, teachers, students and community members have contributed tirelessly, creating a nurturing environment where young ladies can thrive. This legacy of commitment and selflessness has established our school as a beacon of excellence in education.

Each of us should carry a heart full of gratitude for those who have paved the way for our success. It is our responsibility to honor their contributions by continuing to promote the values that have made our school great. Let us do our part, whether through acts of kindness, leadership, or simply by being engaged and supportive members of our community. Together, we can ensure that the spirit of our school continues to flourish, empowering future generations of outstanding young women to dream big and achieve their goals.

This year, our school theme is “Enlightened Mind, Enriched Soul, Envision the Future.” We aspire to cultivate students who possess the wisdom to discern right from wrong, enabling them to make informed decisions in an increasingly complex world. Additionally, we aim to nurture a rich spiritual life, encouraging students to explore their values and beliefs deeply. By fostering these qualities, we empower them to embrace their individuality and contribute positively to society.

As we look ahead, let us inspire our students to not only envision a bright future but also to take brave steps toward creating it. With a strong foundation of knowledge, compassion and resilience, they can become the leaders of tomorrow, making meaningful changes in their communities and beyond. Together, we can build a future that reflects the values we hold dear and the dreams we cherish.
